Damrow tours Germany and AustriaFrits Damrow, principal trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam and professor of trumpet
at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, just completed a tour of some 15 workshops in Germany and Austria, organized and
sponsored by Yamaha. Frits Damrow is currently a Yamaha endorser/clinician. During these workshops his practicebook
"Fitness for Brass" was introduced and presented.
Vincent DiMartino visits University of Denver Lamont School of Music
DiMartino performed the Kennan Sonata with the Wind Ensemble and a host of jazz selections with the faculty jazz combo, the Climb, and Lamont's Jazz Orchestra. Vince conducted an impromptu master class for DU's trumpet students, a more formal master class for the Denver community and attended and observed rehearsals and classes during the residency. In association with his visit to Denver University, Vince also worked with the musicians of the Air Force "Band of the Rockies" in Colorado Springs. Says Al Hood, DU trumpet professor and a former student of DiMartino, "the students and the faculty alike were all thrilled and excited by Vince's boundless energy, effortless playing and positive, caring attitude towards music and the teaching profession. He represents the best of what the music profession has to offer in terms of performers and educators."
Wood to US Army Field BandJames Wood recently accepted a trumpet position with The United States Army Field Band in Washington, D.C. Wood is a 1993 graduate of the New England Conservatory where he studied with Charles Schlueter. In 1994, he received his M.M. from Northwestern University with Vincent Cichowicz and is currently finishing his D.M.A. at the University of North Texas with Keith Johnson.The United States Army Field Band travels thousands of miles each year presenting a variety of music to enthusiastic audiences throughout the nation and abroad. Tours include formal public concerts, educational outreach programs, music festivals, and radio and television appearances.
Cox continues performance clinicsRichard H. Cox, recently retired as President of a professional school of psychology, is continuing his workshops, clinics, and individual/group consultations for musicians, particularly trumpet players. Dr. Cox holds earned doctorates in psychology, medicine, and theology, and has been awarded three honorary doctors degrees. He is a regular presenter at conferences such as the International Trumpet Guild, The National Trumpet Competition and at colleges and universities worldwide. He has helped literally thousands of students and professionals with physical, emotional and performance challenges.
