| Ellsworth/Smith becomes a quadrennial event | March 21, 2002 |

| The International Trumpet Guild's Ellsworth/Smith International Solo Trumpet Competition will move from a two-year to a four-year cycle, it was announced in January by the Guild and the event's co-sponsor, the Columbus Foundation of Columbus, Ohio. According to the January 25th release, the next competition will take place in 2004 rather than the previously scheduled 2002 date. Specifics regarding the 2004 event, which will be held at the University of North Texas, Leonard Candelaria, hosting, will be forthcoming.
