In April 2001, Dr. Bryan K. Appleby-Wineberg was appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. In addition to Dr. Appleby-Wineberg, Rowan's Trumpet Faculty includes Philadelphia Orchestra member Robert Earley and jazz trumpeter George Rabbi. This past season Bryan was Principal Trumpet of the Jupiter Symphony in New York performing 3 concerts a week in a 30 week season. Prior to joining the Rowan faculty Bryan was a Doctoral Fellow for three years at Rutgers University where he studied with Peter Bond of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (B.M.) and The Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M) where he was awarded the 1994 Bernard Adelstein Prize in Trumpet. While in Cleveland he studied with James Darling of the Cleveland Orchestra and did additional work with Cleveland Orchestra members Michael Sachs and David Zauder (former 2nd Tpt.). Bryan has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, The Indianapolis, Akron, Princeton and Owensboro Symphonies, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, The Kent-Blossom Festival Orchestra, and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra among others, and as a guest with the Kent-Blossom Festival Alumni Orchestra rotating as principal trumpet with Charles Couch, Assistant Principal Trumpet of the Cleveland Orchestra. Dr. Appleby-Wineberg was formerly Principal Trumpet of the
Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in Evansville, Indiana for three
seasons, and for two years, was Assistant Professor of Trumpet and
Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Evansville.
