Kanstul Mouthpiece Comparator OnlineYou are cordially invited to visit the Kanstul Mouthpiece Comparator at http://kanstul.net/mpcJN/Mouthpiece.htmThe Kanstul Mouthpiece Comparator represents the first time an interactive process, by which musicians may compare different mouthpieces, has been made available to the entire community of brass players. The Mouthpiece Comparator may be accessed through the Internet on any computer. A musician may chose one mouthpiece from each of two menus at the Kanstul site, and overlay one on the other. This permits accurate comparisons of the rim, bite, and cup sections of the mouthpiece. Kanstul provides a variety of backbores which may be fitted to any of the cup profiles. Every profile in the Kanstul Digital Library has been derived through digitized scanning from actual mouthpieces, not data supplied by other makers. The Kanstul Website provides an excellent overview of the scanning and machining processes and should ideally be read to provide an understanding of how the profiles were originally developed. The Kanstul staff has also developed a process through which a musician may have his personal mouthpiece scanned, then receive a computer file of that scan, which will enable him to then overlay his own mouthpiece over the hundreds of others in the Kanstul Digital Library. E-Mail Jim New at Mouthpieces@Kanstul.net for information.
