Renowned trumpet artist/pedagogue Armando Ghitalla presented a series of master classes and workshops in
a 2-day residency at the University of Louisville on April 17-18, 2000. Dr. Ghitalla discussed numerous
topics including embouchure, air/breathing, singing during practice,vocalization syllables and the
correlation of the oral cavity in tone production, tongue stroke and placement, and literature and style.

Staff Sergeant Susan Rider, USMC, presented a master class at the University of Louisville on April 14,
2000. SSgt. Rider is a performing member of "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band in Washington, D.C.
SSgt. Rider soloed with the University of Louisville Wind Ensemble on April 16, performing Fantasia
Brilliante on the air Rule Britannia by John Hartman, arranged by Tony Holtz.
