 | | Shawn Spicer | Shawn Spicer has been appointed principal trumpet of Orchestra London, London, Ontario, Canada, effective Spring 1999. Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, Spicer earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from McGill University and Yale University respectively, where his teachers were James Thompson and Allan Dean. Spicer formerly served as a member of the Thunderbay Symphony, Windsor Symphony, and Foothills Brass Quintet in Calgary. For the last nine years, he has been a free-lance musician based in Toronto, performing with the Canadian Opera Company, National Ballet, and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Spicer has a special interest in performance on baroque and renaissance instruments and has performed with early music groups such as Taffelmusik, Toronto Consort, Purcell Consort, Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montreal, and the Hogtown Waites.
