On January 10, Michigan State University trumpet professor Rich Illman performed a recital and presented a masterclass integrating technology with performance and practice skills. Finally, on February 10, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music professors Alan Siebert, trumpet, and Tim Northcut, tuba, presented a recital and masterdass.

Mathie taught a brass techniques class, worked with individual trumpet students and all of the brass students, met with a graduate class in trumpet pedagogy, and lectured on the qualities of the good teacher to all of the music education students. Dr. Mathie now lives in Waverly, Ohio, and plays with the Brass Band of Columbus.
