Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, was the host institution for two recent brass events. On November 4, cornet virtuoso Russell Gray conducted a clinic and the students who attended were treated to a genuinely inspiring display of acrobatic technique as well as a British concept of the cornet sound. Gray related some interesting breathing techniques and practice tips that had the entire audience on their feet participating.

The following day, Otterbein hosted central Ohio middle and high school trumpet students for "Trumpet Day" with clinician Marvin Stamm. The morning schedule included a master class in which college and high school trumpet students received constructive evaluations of their performances. Stamm demonstrated his distinctive ability to relate to students of varying experience levels. The day concluded with a sensational jazz performance by Stamm, accompanied by Jim Rupp, Hank Marr, and Lou Fisher.
