Technical Sergeant Brian MacDonald, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, won the lead trumpet position with The United States Air Force Airmen of Note in August 1999. He brings a great deal of experience as a lead trumpeter to this premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force and is a welcomed addition to The United States Air Force Band organization.

Before joining the Air Force, Sgt. MacDonald was the lead trumpeter for KC and the Sunshine Band. He also toured as lead trumpeter with Maynard Ferguson, and performed as split-lead trumpet with both the Glenn Miller and Woody Herman Orchestras. Additionally, he has had numerous television appearances with KC and the Sunshine Band including: VH-1 Specials Live at Pleasure Island and Behind the Music, NBC Today show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve Special, EXTRA and HBO's Sinbad Summer Funkfest 98. He has also played with other great artists including Joe Williams, Chaka Khan, The Temptations and Kenny Rogers.

Sgt. MacDonald graduated from the University of Miami in May 1999 with a bachelor of arts degree in music. His teachers include Gil Johnson, Bobby Shew and Roger Ingram.
