Jazz artist Bobby Shew presented a stunningly beautiful concert on July 1, 2000, performing with the Louisville Orchestra at Ogle Center for the Performing Arts in New Albany, IN. Shew's concert included the first live performances of arrangements by Lex Jasper which are featured on his latest CD, Metropole Orchestra. This CD, recorded in single takes in 1986 and 1988 in The Netherlands, is a tribute to The Metropole Orchestra, the famous Dutch radio orchestra that has been in existence for approximately thirty years. The orchestra's instrumentation is best described as a big band plus strings, woodwinds, harp, and horn. Shew describes Metropole Orchestra as his "favorite album of all my recordings because of the writing and the performance of the orchestra."
