John Hagstrom, trumpeter with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is the featured soloist on two works on the new Chicago Brass Choir CD entitled Pictures in Brass. Hagstrom plays the Ernst Sachse Concertino in Eb (edited by Stephen Glover) and the Vincenzo Bellini Concerto for Trumpet, arranged for Mr. Hagstrom and the Chicago Brass Choir by musical director Michael Stewart. Also on the disc are works from the Renaissance to late Romantic period, including pieces by Holst, Purcell, Bruckner, Bach, Bizet, and nine movements from Modeste Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, again arranged by Michael Stewart.
