The Mountain Empire Chapter of the ITG and the music department of East Tennessee State University (ETSU) hosted guest artist Terry Everson at their annual Trumpet Day on February 24, 1999. Everson was featured in a variety of clinics and master classes as well as an evening recital.

Everson concluded his clinic for all ETSU music majors with an awe-inspiring performance of Robert Henderson's Variation Movements. Trumpet students of Matthew Inkster (ETSU) later performed in a master class with Everson. Each student came away with a renewed sense of enthusiasm for their instrument, and all participants and observers were treated to excellent pedagogical information. Everson's recital with pianist Jane LaPella included Rodion Schedrin's Im Stile von der Albeniz, Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Trumpets (with Inkster), Kent Kennan's Sonata, Vincent Persichetti's Parable XIV, and Gregory Pascuzzi's arrangement of Amazing Grace, Meditation on a Scottish Hymn Tune (with Inkster, Brent Bingham, and Joe Long). The appreciative audience was entranced by Everson's control of the instrument and by his heartfelt commitment to the music.
