Stanley Friedman has been appointed instructor of trumpet and director of the brass ensemble at Interlochen Arts Academy. Friedman enjoys a dual career as a composer and trumpeter. Formerly principal trumpet with the New Zealand Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Israel Philharmonic, Friedman is featured on the CD The Lyric Trumpet (Ode Records, New Zealand). His solo trumpet works include Solus, La Pittura, Trumpet Sonata, Laude, and Concerto in C. Friedman is a three-time winner of the ITG Composition Contest. He currently is working on a final draft of a companion/guide to the James Stamp trumpet method. He can be contacted at friedmansa@interlochen.k12.mi.us
