Chilean trumpeters were awarded a unique experience when the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra gave three performances of Leos Janàcek’s Sinfonietta, conducted by Gabor Õtrõs. The Philharmonic trumpet section members, Eugene King, Javier Contreras, Juan Carlos Urbina, and Luis Duran, were joined by guest trumpeters Miguel Buller, Mauricio Castillo, Rodrigo Cifuentes, Cristian Muñoz, Hector Torres, Claudio Anais, Miguel Muñoz, and Luis Campusano. Juan Reyes and Eduardo Espinoza played bass trumpet and Bernardo Guigana and Walter Jimenez played Wagner tubas.

In May 1999, Santiago's Philharmonic Brass gave quintet performances at the Chilean Air Force Officers' Club and at Santiago en Peñalolen. Works by Speer, Handel, Gershwin, and Bernstein were performed. The Philharmonic Brass trumpeters are Eugene King and Juan Carlos Urbina.
