David Alves

 
David Alves was appointed professor of trumpet at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (the federal university in Rio de Janeiro). A graduate from UFRJ, Alves has performed with the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira for more than 15 years. Additionally, he performs with Ars Metal-Quinteto, a brass quintet which has recorded on the Velas label and performs many concerts in Rio and other areas of Brazil.

Nailson Simões assumed the position of professor of trumpet at UNIRIO (the state university in Rio de Janeiro). Nailson, who earned his MM from the New England Conservatory and his DMA from Catholic University, has taught at Universidade Federal da Paraiba since 1980. His recordings with the group Brassil can be heard on the Nimbus label. Formerly principal trumpet of Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo and Orquestra Sinfônica da Paraiba, Simões studied with Charles Schlueter, Gerard Hostein, and Maviael Celestino.
