IMG Artists announces the signing of Tine Thing Helselth, the young Norwegian trumpeter previously awarded “Newcomer of the Year” at the Norwegian Grammy Awards. She will be represented by IMG Artists for general management (excluding Norway) working with Edward Pascall and Kathryn Enticott, and is the first purely classical trumpeter ever to be represented by IMG Artists.
Helseth has performed with some of Europe’s leading ensembles including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, all the major Norwegian orchestras, and further afield with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, she made her US recital debut in Washington DC and gave performances in Japan and Vietnam. Appearances for Helseth at European festivals have included the Schleswig-Holstein, Bergen International and Kissinger Summer Festival where, in 2007, she was awarded the Luitpold Prize as the most outstanding and interesting young artist of the year.
Helseth has released two CDs: Trumpet Concertos and My Heart is Ever Present, both on the Simax Classics label. The first release, recorded with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra was named “Classical Recording of the Year” by the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten. Her second album, My Heart is Ever Present, a collection of her favorite Christmas songs and hymns released in November 2009, went to ‘gold’ in the Norwegian classical chart after just three weeks.
Amongst the list of awards garnered by Helseth, she has received the 2009 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, second prize in the 2006 Eurovision Young Musicians Competition and the prestigious Prince Eugen’s Culture Prize in Stockholm.
Helseth performed during the opening gala of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, a concert broadcast to millions of television viewers worldwide. She is also the Artistic Director of the ‘ten Thing’ brass ensemble. She continues to be represented by Laila Nordø Artists Management for Norwegian engagements.
