Dr. Brian Shook has recently been appointed assistant professor of trumpet at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Prior to arriving at Lamar, Shook served as an adjunct instructor on the faculties of Towson University and American University while touring with The King’s Brass.
Shook holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in trumpet performance from Arizona State University as well as a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from Cedarville University. Shook was a graduate teaching assistant of David Hickman and has also studied with Andrew Balio, Pat Sheridan, Charles Pagnard, and Ettore Chiudioni.
As a student at Arizona State University, Shook performed with the Phoenix Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, Symphony of the West Valley, and the Salt River Brass Band. He is currently the principal trumpet of the Symphony of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.
