On October 22, 2009 the Mid-American Trumpet Ensemble visited Emory & Henry College for a day of masterclasses and an evening performance. The ensemble is made up of Jim Stokes, professor of trumpet at Appalachian State University, Alan Siebert, professor of trumpet at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Charles Pagnard, professor of trumpet at Cedarville University, and John Schlabach, professor of trumpet at Ohio University. They spent the day working with the Emory & Henry College Trumpet Ensemble and the trumpet students. The day was capped off with the concert in the evening that featured a diverse array of trumpet quartet including Guentzel’s "Four Horsemen," the Tighe arrangement of Scarborough Fair, Schmidt’s "Variants, with Solo Cadenzas." The entire day was a great learning experience for all of the students as well as the audience.
