From July 22 to 25, the Cultural Association Juan García Marín, which serves to spread the musical work and teaching of Valencian trumpeter Juan García Marín, hosted its first international trumpet competition. The first annual Juan García Marín International Trumpet Competition in the Valencian town of Anna, Spain. Members of the jury included Guy Touvron, Chen Guang, Vicente Roncero, Luis González, Andrés Simeó and Matthias Beck as president. The competition included three rounds. In the final round, all participants played Vicente Roncero's Tromba Verso la Pace with orchestra.
Fabio Brum won first prize in this year's competition. Brum had played in several orchestras and groups in Brazil, Venezuela, EE.UU, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungry and Serbia, including the Radio Televisión Española Orchestra, Orchester des Staatstheater Darmstad, Philharmonic Orchestra of Las Palmas, Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, city of Granada Orchestra, Simón Bolivar del Tachira Orchestra and the Brass Company Quintet. He recently won the Judge's Prize and the Novara Award in the Ellsworth Smith Trumpet Competition. Brum is a Stomvi artist.
