Emory & Henry Trumpet Ensemble

In the fall of 2008 Emory & Henry College hosted Mr. David Alexander, retired trumpet professor from Auburn University, for four days. During the visit Alexander presented master classes for the trumpet ensemble and for trumpet students. The college also hosted an evening of baroque trumpet music presented by Nate Mayfield. Before the concert, Mayfield presented a very informative class on historical instruments and proper performance practice.

In the spring of 2009 the Emory & Henry College trumpet ensemble traveled to Western Carolina University for the Western Carolina University Trumpet Festival. While there the ensemble performed as part of the college trumpet ensemble portion of the festival.

Following the trumpet festival, Emory & Henry hosted the U.S. Army TRADOC trumpet quartet from Ft. Monroe, VA, for a master class and performance.

In March the trumpet ensemble hosted Dr. Jim Stokes, professor of trumpet at Appalachian State University, for a day of master classes. A few days later, the group traveled to Washington D.C. to compete in the trumpet ensemble division of the National Trumpet Competition.

In May the ensemble traveled to Harrisburg, PA, for the ITG conference. The ensemble was selected to perform as a prelude performance for the Joseph Bowman, Hee-chan Ahn, and Tiger Okoshi.
