Dr. Amy Schendel

Dr. Amy Schendel is the newly appointed Professor of Trumpet at the University of Iowa. Prior to the appointment, Schendel served as the Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet at Texas Woman's University in Denton. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Indiana University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has held positions with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony, Spoleto Festival USA, Wisconsin Brass Quintet, Tanglewood Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In 2001 she was a featured guest soloist with the Indiana University Orchestra and the winner of the Indiana University Brass Concerto Competition. Schendel has also won positions with the US Marine Band, "The President's Own," and the US Air Force Ceremonial Band in Washington, D.C. In 2003-4, she studied in Augsburg, German with the former Solo-Trumpeter of the Bavarian State Orchestra Uwe Kleindienst, as a Fulbright grantee. Schendel currently performs with the Contrapunctus Brass Trio and has performed with the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, Minnesota Orchestra, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.
