On February 28, 2009, Giovanni Barone, principal trumpeter of the Italian Police Band in Rome, Gianpiero Cristaldi, principal trumpeter of the Italian Navy Band, and Gianluca Libertucci, principal organist at St. Petere's Basilica in Rome, joined forces for a special concert. The event was held at the Sanctuary of the Three Martyr Brothers (Alfio, Filadelfo, and Cireno) in the Sicilian 16th-century baronial city Trecastagni, at the foot of volcanic Mount Etna in the province of Catania.

The Baroque program began with a new composition by the three performers, a variation of a famous theme of Sicilian popular religious music.

After the first piece, Gianluca Libertucci performed a Baroque composition by the Sicilian composer Bernardo Storace: "Aria di Battaglia" from Selva di varie compositioni d’ intravolatura per cimbalo et organo. Following the organ work came Corelli's Sonata a Tre in B-flat for two trumpets and organ.

Libertucci closed the first part of the program with a march for organ from the opera Beatrice di Tenda by the Sicilian composer Vincenzo Bellini. This opera was written specially to be played on the monumental organ of the 17th century Monastero dei Benedettini in Catania.

The Manfredini Concerto for two trumpets opened the second part of the concert. This was followed by "Bénédiction Nuptiale" from Messe de Mariage by Theéodore Dubois, the Air Triumphal for two trumpets by Philippe Courbois, and the organ masterpiece Festival Toccata by Percy E. Fletcher. The concert ended with a Concerto for two trumpets by Vivaldi.

This concerts marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the three artist, who have also just launched a CD with Italian music for two trumpets.
