| On Thursday and Friday, March 5-6, 2009, renowned jazz artist Mike Vax served as the guest clinician the annual jazz festival at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. While at ENMU, Mr. Vax taught lessons, presented a master class, visited with the students, and performed a Friday evening concert with the top jazz ensemble from ENMU directed by Dr. Chris Beaty, Director of Jazz, Associate Professor of Saxophone, and host of the festival.

Mike Vax is an International Artist for the Getzen Company. He performs exclusively on Getzen trumpets, cornets and flugelhorns. He has played lead and solo trumpet with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, the Clark Terry Big Bad Band, and the U.S. Navy Show Band, has appeared as guest lead trumpet and soloist with symphony pops orchestras around the United States, and also the All-American Collegiate Orchestra at Disneyworld. Vax has toured extensively in Europe, Scandinavia, South America and Japan. As a recording musician, he has performed on more than 75 albums, including 20 under his own name. Vax has given workshops and concerts in over 2000 grade schools, colleges and universities all around the world. He is very active as a clinician and soloist in both the classical and jazz idioms.
