Arnie Chycoski

Canadian jazz legend Arnold "Arnie" Chycoski was born in May of 1936 and passed away in September 2008 at the age of 72. He played lead trumpet for the Boss Brass for many years. Band leader Rob McConnell called him “one of the top three lead trumpet players on the planet.” Playing trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn, Chycoski was in high demand as a sideman. He was well known for his impeccable pitch, phrasing and strength. Arnie was a mentor to many, boasting a long and impressive career performing in numerous large ensembles and big bands including Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, the Ian McDougall Dectet and Tommy Ambrose with the Doug Riley Band. He performed with all three groups in the "Sound of Toronto Jazz" Concert series on numerous occasions.
He is remembered as a remarkably sweet-natured and easygoing man.
