Rachel Rodriquez joins Synergy Brass Quintet 19 November 2008

The Synergy Brass Quintet has a new trumpeter this year. Rachel Rodriquez joined the Synergy Brass Quintet as 2nd trumpet this past summer. Rachel was born and raised in Texas and received her BM and MA from West Texas A&M University and DMA from the University of North Texas.  Prior to joining SBQ, Rachel was Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.  While in Kansas, Rachel performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Sunflower Music Festival Orchestra, Washburn Faculty Brass Trio, and the Fountain City Brass Band, a traditional British-style Brass Band based in Kansas City, MO.

Rachel was an award-winning cornet player with the Fountain City Brass Band recently winning the 2007 NABBA high brass technical solo competition and Best Cornet and Best Solo Performance Awards at the 2007 US Open Brass Band Championships. She was also a finalist (runner-up) and award winner at the 2008 National Trumpet Competition in the 19th Century Cornet Historical Division. Rachel is a Conn-Selmer artist and performs exclusively on Bach trumpets and the Conn Vintage One flugelhorn.
