Three New Works of Anthony Plog receive Premieres 17 November 2008

This past year has seen the premier of three new works by Anthony Plog for the combination of trumpet and wind ensemble. One of these works is an original, and two are transcriptions of earlier works.

Contemplations, for flugelhorn and wind ensemble, was premiered by Professor Richard Steffan (Flugelhorn) and the Austin Peay University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Gregory Wolynec on December 4, 2007.

The Concerto for Trumpet and Wind Ensemble is a transcription of an earlier four movement work for brass ensemble. Professor James Thompson, Professor of Trumpet at the Eastman School of Music, and the Toronto Wind Ensemble under the direction of Gillian MacKay on February 9, 2008.

The Double Concerto for Two Trumpets and Wind Ensemble was originally written for Chamber Orchestra, but received new treatment in this new transcription. John Rommel and Joey Tartell performed with the Indiana University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Stephen Pratt on September 30, 2008.
