Mary Thornton to Texas A&M University – Corpus
Christi

Dr. Mary Thornton has been appointed an Assistant
Professor of Music at Texas A&M University – Corpus
Christi where her responsibilities include teaching
trumpet and directing the TAMUCC Islander Jazz Band.

Dr. Thornton is a member of the Corpus Christi,
Victoria, and Mid-Texas Symphonies, and has performed
with numerous ensembles including the San Antonio
Symphony, the Victoria Bach Festival, the Madison
Symphony, the East Texas Symphony, the Wisconsin
Chamber Orchestra, the Ohio Light Opera, the
Charleston (SC) Symphony, and the Orchestra of the
State of Mexico (Toluca, Mexico).

Prior to her appointment at TAMUCC, Dr. Thornton
served on the faculty of Del Mar College, including
the past year as chair of the music department."
