A published author as well, Boren’s first book, Breathing for Performance, was released in 2005 through PowerLung Publishing along with the companion DVD. His first article, “Mind over Matter/Matter of Mind,” was published in the International Trumpet Guild Journal in October 2004 (Vol. 29, No.1, Pg. 65). He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Wichita State University, and his Master of Music degree from DePaul University. Boren is working toward his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kansas.

Amanda Pepping is active both as a performer and recording artist. She has performed with groups including the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, the Arizona Opera, the Sun City Symphony, and the Brass Band of Battle Creek, Michigan. She has been a featured soloist with numerous European ensembles, including the Hombeek Brass Band in Belgium, and with many ensembles in the United States.

Pepping was a 2005-2006 Fulbright Fellow in Karlsruhe, Germany, studying the Baroque trumpet with Edward Tarr. She has also studied with Reinhold Friedrich, Emory Harvison of the Phoenix Symphony, and Robert Dorer and Douglas Carlsen of the Minnesota Orchestra. She completed her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in music performance at Arizona State University where she studied with and served as a teaching assistant to David Hickman. In addition to her performing career, Amanda has arranged many works for trumpet and various ensembles, including all the pieces on her solo album Amanda, released with Summit Records. Concurrent to her Fulbright studies, Amanda edited David Hickman’s Trumpet Pedagogy. Pepping’s article titled The Use of Brass Instruments in Rituals and Worship Throughout History was published in the March 2008 ITG Journal.
