Academy Award of Merit statuettes - the Oscars

Bob Findley has kindly contacted ITG News with the lineup of the trumpet section for the Academy Awards show - popularly known as the "Oscars" - on Sunday 24th February.

Findley writes: "We're on a break here in Hollywood for the Academy Awards show set for Sunday the 24th and thought I might let the ITG members know who will be sitting in the trumpet section this year: we're asked every year about this, and we thought it might interest your readers. The orchestra this year is under the direction of Bill Conti who has conducted the show no less than 19 times: I'm sure it's a record of sorts." He then goes on to reveal the event's stellar trumpet section:

• Rick Baptist
• Wayne Bergeron
• Bob Findley
• Warren Luening

"Rick is the section leader," adds Bob Findley, "although all of us share the lead responsibility. It's normally a 3½ - 4 hour show and live, so we all get plenty to play."
