Yamaha America has announced a call for applicants for their 2008 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Each year, Yamaha "chooses several of the most outstanding students, and rewards them for all their hard work." The winners of the Yamaha Young Performing Artist competition will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the company's Summer Symposium awards ceremony, the opportunity to perform in a live recorded concert along with several of Yamaha's top performing artists, and many other opportunities. The application form offers applicants these possibilities:

  • A once in a lifetime performance opportunity in front of thousands of students at the Music for All Summer Symposium.
  • The overall winner (chosen at Summer Symposium) will receive $5,000 in retail credit towards a professional model Yamaha instrument.
  • An opportunity for your New York City performance debut at Yamaha Artist Service, Inc.
  • This performance and an interview with you will be available worldwide on the Yamaha B&O podcast subscription.
  • Professional workshops and clinics designed to launch your professional career.
  • Recording of the performances.
  • National Press coverage.

Past winners have gone on to become college professors, principal symphony players, and Yamaha performing artists.
