The Internet, with its vast resources, offers an unprecedented volume of information to trumpet players. ITG offers this column as an introduction to this exponentially expanding resource. ITG cannot guarantee that these locations are completely accurate, and that all copyright laws have been observed. For suggestions and/or comments, contact Michael Anderson, website@trumpetguild.org
Master Teacher Web Sites
THERE IS OFTEN a special bond that forms between great teachers and their students. This bond can manifest itself in many ways as both students and teachers grow and move on in their lives. Often, the student becomes a teacher and passes on that which he or she has learned to his/her own students. Legacies are built this way and master teachers techniques and philosophies are passed on from generation to generation.
Internet technology has taken this to another level. Students of the finest and best-known brass teachers have published web sites dedicated to their mentors for all to see. Some of them are what we call "tribute" sites and some are intended to deliver pedagogical content.
The Trumpet Herald Forums (http://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/index.php) contain several forums dedicated to individual master teachers. Each forum has a moderator who was or is a student of the featured teacher. The information you can find there can be especially enlightening and the discussions rich and often passionate.
Most of the sites below speak for themselves and require no explanation or review. If you dont wish to copy the URLs from the Journal to your browser, simply visit the Web Site Reviews page on the ITG Web Site: http://www.trumpetguild.org/jounral/websitereviews/
