The International Trumpet Guild is a non-profit organization founded in 1975 to promote communications among trumpet players around the world and to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching, and literature associated with the trumpet.
ITG's more than 5,000 members represent 56 countries and include professional and amateur performers, teachers, students, manufacturers, publishers, and others interested in belonging to an organization dedicated to the trumpet profession. ITG is supported by the dues of individual members.
The ITG is an organization made up of trumpet enthusiasts in every genre and at every level of proficiency. Our mission is to promote communication among trumpeters and improve the artistic level of every aspect of the instrument, including, but not limited to, performance, teaching, literature, research, and instrument design. We publish the only journal dedicated solely to the trumpet, co-sponsor and administer both an international solo trumpet competition and an international jazz trumpet competition, sponsor an annual trumpet conference, hold annual competitions for players from junior high through college, commission new trumpet music, and provide many other services from maintaining a news column to offering free CDs and music downloads to our members. Rich and Valerie Stoelzel, 2013 conference hosts, will dedicate this year's conference to one of the all time greats and masters of the trumpet, the one and only Adolph "Bud" Herseth. ITG2013 has commissioned composer James Stephenson, to compose a new composition for trumpet and strings that will be premiered at the conference in memory of Mr. Herseth. Information on the trumpeter who will perform this premier will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. The final concert featuring trumpet "All Stars" with trumpet great Arturo Sandoval will also be dedicated to Mr.Herseth. The concert will open with testimonials to Mr. Herseth by former colleagues and friends. Lets make this conference the biggest and most successful to date, in honor of a music and trumpet legend, never to be forgotten, Adolph "Bud" Herseth.
Call for Research Papers for the 38th Annual Conference of the International Trumpet Guild The research session is a research forum offered at the conference, for current higher education / tertiary level teachers, performers, graduate students, Teaching Assistants and professors to present a 15-20 minute presentation of experimental, action, qualitative, or quantitative research, ideas, or theories about trumpet performance and / or pedagogy. This new content is available for all ITG registered members. The video content will include a Masterclass Series and Performance Series that will be frequently updated. Members will also have the opportunity to submit videos for consideration. Information will be available at the public ITG Video home on the web at: https://members.trumpetguild.org/content/videos The first installments of the Masterclass Series will include videos from Stephen Burns and Carl Saunders. The Performance Series of videos will begin with trumpet fanfares performed by various university trumpet ensembles from Ohio and KY. These fanfares were part of the OITG 2012 Fanfare Project that was commissioned by James Olcott, trumpet professor of Miami University (Oxford, OH).The composers included Robert Bradshaw, Barry Ford, Michael Galib, Jack N. Kimmell, Erik Morales, Clint Needham, Greg Pascuzzi, David Shaffer, and James Stephenson. ITG is in the process of scanning these rich and informative publications into user-friendly PDF files, and the first three years (minus a few missing components we're still seeking) have been posted and are ready for download!
