O'Brass Belgian radio broadcast

On March 15, 2015, O’Brass, a brass ensemble composed of young talented professional musicians with a great passion for music and with the ambition to pass on their music through concerts and masterclasses, performed a live radio broadcast from Bozar Brussels on Klara, the Belgian national classical radio station.

The group presented Tom Hondeghem’s O'Verture for Brass, Erik Desimpelaere’s Souvenirs d'Avril, Steven Verhelst’s Promenade, “Danserye” from Tylman Susato (arr. Geert De Vos) Suit uit, Matthias Baeyens’s Towards Zero, Huit et demi by Nino Rota and arranged by Thierry Caens, and Dumitru Ionel’s Roumanian Dance.

Most of O’Brass, a group that performs music from all genres and time periods while working closely with young composers, met while participating in the ‘International Belgian Brass Academy’. The ten brass players and two percussionists won the 2014 Karen Vernimmen prize. More recently they were one of three laureates of Supernova, a competition for young chamber ensembles organized by Klara. Group members are Ester Van Nuffel, Sander Kintaert, Sven Ysewyn and Stijn Ubaghs on trumpet, Quinten De Gelaen and Diechje Minne on horn, Joachim Van Bockstael and Arno Tri Pramudia on trombone, Bram Meese on bass trombone, Mathijs Coine on tuba, and Ken Gybels and Stijn Schoofs playing percussion.
