Position: Assistant Professor of Trumpet

Scope of Job
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking applications for a Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Music to join the UTRGV School of Music in Fall 2018. Primary responsibilities include teaching Applied Trumpet, and may include Trumpet Ensemble, High Brass Methods, and other music courses based on the candidate's strengths and interests and as assigned by the Director. Candidates should demonstrate a record of successful university teaching, performance and scholarly activity. This position requires instruction on both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. It is expected that the candidate go out into the community and interact with the school districts actively recruiting qualified students, as well as collegial participation in service activities and continued creative and scholarly activity appropriate to their assigned teaching load and the expectations of the School of Music.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Music or Musical Arts (Trumpet Performance) from an accredited institution, and a record of successful teaching at the collegiate level.


Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Experience teaching Applied Trumpet and/or other related courses. A record of active performance and scholarship.


Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated record of recruiting students, in addition to building and maintaining a successful studio.
