The College of Saint Rose invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Music Education with a specialty in Brass in the School of Arts and Humanities to start August 2018.
Responsibilities will include teaching 12 credits per semester of undergraduate courses in Music Education, including instrumental methods, instrumental ensembles in the candidate's area of expertise, and applied lessons in brass (trumpet preferred). Non-curricular responsibilities include advising music students, participating in recruitment activities including new student auditions, attending internal and external events applicable to the College and the candidate's academic discipline, program assessment, engaging in professional development/scholarship, and participation in Department, School, and College committees. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating courses in applied brass (including juries), brass repertoire, and techniques; curriculum development; and assisting with placement of and supervising student teachers.
The successful candidate will have a Doctorate (PhD or DMA) in Music, with at least one degree in Music Education, experience in teaching courses in instrumental music education, successful public or private school teaching experience, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and performing, commitment to scholarship, and superior written and oral communication skills. The candidate will have experience teaching private lessons to brass students.
