The Quinteto do Metais Itarratan was formed as part of the undergraduate program of the Universidade Federale de Minas Gerais, under the direction of Professor Anor Luciano, Jr. Its principally Brazilian repertoire includes traditional as well as modern works. The main objectives of the Itarratan are the technical and musical development of its musicians, and the discovery of original Brazilian music written especially for brass quintets. Itarratan uses rhythms and folk styles from all of the regions of Brazil in its programs. The ensemble has played at many important events in Brazil. (Wed., May 19, 10:45 a.m.) |
