A native of Chicago and graduate of Juilliard, Edward Carroll is the International Chair of Brass Studies at Londons Royal Academy of Music, where he also serves on the chamber music faculty. Appointed as Music Director of the Lake Placid Institute for the Arts and Humanities in 1996, he is a Visiting Scholar at Dartmouth College and presents master classes worldwide. Mr. Carroll's career as an orchestral musician began at age 21 when he joined the Houston Symphony as Associate Principal Trumpet, and continued as Principal Trumpet of the San Diego Symphony and Rotterdam (NL) Philharmonic. His many solo recordings are found on the Sony, Vox, MHS, and Newport Classic labels. Mr. Carroll studied the trumpet with Renold Schilke, John Lindenau, Vincent Cichowicz, and Gerard Schwarz, and he succeeded Mr. Schwarz as Director of The New York Trumpet Ensemble (1979 - 1988).
