Dr. David Champouillon has just completed a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Roanoke College in Salem, VA. Faculty appointments have also in-cluded Kutztown University, University of Northern Colorado, University of Utah, Eastern Illinois University, and the International FAME Festival. Dr. champ.jpgChampouillon holds degrees from the University of Northern Colorado, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Miami. Private studies have included extensive lessons with William Fielder (Rutgers University), William Pfund (University of Northern Colorado), Gilbert Johnson (Philadelphia Orchestra - retired), Laurie McGaw (San Francisco Symphony - retired), and Daniel Sapochetti (Syracuse Symphony). A featured soloist in both jazz and classical idioms in the United States Air Force Band system at age 20, Champouillon is also the former Principal Trumpet of the Utah Chamber Orchestra and the Salt Lake Symphony. Additional extensive performance credits include Utah Symphony Orchestra, Ballet West, Oakland Symphony, Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, Walt Disney Ice Shows, Mel Torme, Arturo Sandoval, Budweiser Jazz Festival, The Moody Blues, and several concert band and jazz ensemble recordings. He also is a contributing author on two books titled Bill Pfund's Beginning Trumpet Method and Bill Pfund's Intermediate Trumpet Method. His dissertation on his mentor and teacher, Mr. Gilbert Johnson (former Principal Trumpet of the Philadelphia orchestra), is titled Gilbert Johnson  Artist and Teacher: The Philadelphia Years.
