Welcome

On behalf of the University of Richmond, we are delighted to welcome attendees of the 1999 International Trumpet Conference to cohen.jpgour campus and to our city. Many of the worlds premier trumpet artists are in attendance to perform and give master classes and seminars. As host site, we will do all we can to provide a festive and comfortable atmosphere for ITG Conference participants to make new friendships both off and on the stage.

Its a pleasure for the University of Richmond to host ITG 99. Welcome to Richmond!

From the Officers and Board of the ITG, I offer greetings and a warm welcome to our 1999 annual conference, this year in Richmond, Virginia. For the past year and a half, Michael Davison has been planning for this event. With the support of his school and the help of his terrific staff, he has assembled this superb group of artists and clinicians, as well as a very large group of exhibitors.Dunnick.JPG

The two most important functions of the ITG are the publication of the ITG Journal and the presentation of our annual conference. Since the first such event at Indiana University in 1975, we have held an ITG Conference every year, either on our own, or in conjunction with the other brass organizations. These conferences provide an opportunity to showcase great musicians and groups (both established and new), as well as present master classes and lectures by well known teachers and performers, present outstanding student contest finalists, and give us all a chance to see and try out new instruments, mutes, music, and many other great products.

As you visit the exhibits and attend the concerts, master classes and lectures, I hope you will take the time to thank Mike and his staff, as well as the many artists, clinicians and sponsors who have helped make this conference possible.

      Kim Dunnick
      President, ITG

Welcome to ITG 99! I am honored to be your host for what promises to be an exciting four days. My staff, students and colleagues have worked for a year to bring you something old, something new, something Baroque, and something MDavison.JPGBlues. These musical experiences will hopefully last a lifetime, helping you to inspire, instruct and instill our art to future generations.

On behalf of myself, family, and my wife, Joyce, I hope you will take back fond memories of your visit to Richmond. We are pleased you chose to spend four days with us at this years ITG Conference. Enjoy our many concerts, exhibits, gallery, master classes, and dont forget to have fun!

I'd like to dedicate my work on this project to my dad, Malcolm Charles Davison, who passed away last year, my first teacher of trumpet and life.

      Michael Davison,
      Conference Host
