ITG 2003 Jam Session - Rex Richardson

The final event of the 2003 ITG Conference was a jam session held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, hosted by Rex Richardson, featuring the rhythm section used for many of the jazz-related ITG clinics. With almost a capacity crowd, the band played mostly song standards, including such jam session warhorses as Autumn Leaves, Alone Together, There Will Never Be Another You, and many others. Host Rex Richardson held forth the entire night (both playing and acting as a referee) as a steady stream of players joined the band for a tune or two each. Two notable participants included ITG President Vince DiMartino, who joined the fray in the early going, and clinician/performer Carl Saunders, who played until the end of the night. The jam session provided a perfect opportunity to wind-down what had been a great week of non-stop activity.
