Jonathan Martin, trumpet professor at the University of Eastern Kentucky coordinated the participation of ITG participants in the Sunday morning church service at the
Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer directly across the street from Evansville University. The sound of trumpets floated majestically from the balcony of the stone church. After a brief rehearsal on the Baroque literature selected for the service the ensemble was ready to perform. Selections included Concerto for three piccolo trumpets by G.P. Telemann arranged by Gordon Mathie, Hornpipe by G.F. Handel arranged by James Olcott, and J.S. Bachs If Thou be Near. Participants also performed
rousing descants on the hymns including Crown Him with Many Crowns by George Elvey, and A Mighty Fortress is Our God by Martin Luther. The service was a fitting end to the many blessings bestowed upon the 2001 ITG Conference.
