After years of performing with some of the finest names in jazz, the stage has been set for Terell Stafford to become one of the most requested young artists on the jazz scene today.

The Candid label launched his first and critically acclaimed release as a leader, Time to Let Go. In his second recently released recording, Centripetal Force (Candid), Terell continues to establish himself as one of the finest and most intriguing solo trumpet voices. Centripetal Force features a stellar array of nine innovative musicians, including Stephen Scott, Victor Lewis, Russef I Malone, Ed Howard, Tim Warfield, and Ron Blake. These musicians individually and collectively pull toward and evolve Terell’s musical vision and concept of structure, dynamics, and alternative approaches to standards.

A recognized favorite among masters of jazz piano, Terell has also performed with Kenny Barron, Shirley Scott and Cedar Walton. He has also been invited to play with two of the most prestigious jazz ensembles of our day, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, directed by Wynton Marsalis, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, conducted by Jon Faddis.

In the fall of 1996, Terell was appointed Assistant Professor of Jazz/Composition at the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University in Philadelphia.
