Valery Posvaliuk studied with Wilhelm Yablonsky at the Kiev Conservatory
from 1965-69. From 1967 -79, he was engaged as a principal trumpet with
the Ukrainian State Symphony Orchestra and since 1979, has served as prin-cipal
trumpeter of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Opera of Ukraine. Mr.
Posvaliuk has played under many esteemed conductors including Maesti Rakhlin,
Svetlanov, Rozhdestvensky, Ivanov, Simonov & Temirkanov.
Mr. Posvaliuk has taught at Kiev’s Nikolay Lysenko Special Middle Music
School for the Talented since 1967. From 1989-98, he was a member of the
faculty of the National Music Academy of the Ukraine. Valery Posvaliuk is a
founder-member and the first President of the Ukrainian Guild of Professional
Trumpeters. He frequently performs as a soloist, has made numerous radio and
TV recordings, and recently made a recording of baroque music for trumpet
and chamber orchestra. He is the author of several historical articles including
“Trumpeters of Kiev – Past and Present” which is the subject of his seminar at ITG 2000. Mr. Posvaliuk
also has several music publications to his name including Daily Exercises for Trumpet Pupils (1998) and
Lyrical Studies by Mykola Lysenko transcribed for trumpet and piano (1999).
