The brass band in the French musical scene is
today a real novelty. Since the creation of the
Brass Band “Normandie” six years ago they
have won many national and international awards,
and are proud to be at the head of the French
brass band movement, which was really born from
their impetus.
Since 1994, Brass Band Normandie has won 1st
Prize at the International Championship of Bergen
(Norway) in 1996; were runners up at the
International Championship of London in 1998; and won 1st Prize at the French National Championships
in Boise in the same year. Last year, they were prizewinners at the 1999 European Championships.
Brass Band “Normandie” aims to promote the music of the brass band genre and to help audiences dis-cover
a musical repertoire both rich and diverse. The regional support for brass and the success of Brass
Band “Normandie” since 1994 has helped the Haute-Normandie region of France become recognized as
the national home for the brass band movement.
Brass Band “Normandie’s” appearance at ITG 2000, marks the band’s US début.
