Vaughan Nark is a trumpeter, flugelhornist and valve trombonist from Mount
Carmel, PA. He was a member of the premiere jazz ensemble of the US
Airforce, the Airman of Note, for nearly twenty years. Touring all over the
world, he performed as lead trumpeter and featured jazz soloist on a vast array of
highly touted tours. He has appeared at such major musical events as the
“Jacksonville JVC” and “Detroit Montreux” jazz festivals in addition to literally
hundreds of concert engagements.
Mr. Nark has performed , with many jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Doc
Severinsen, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Shew, Wynton Marsalis and Jon Faddis.
He also played lead trumpet for the inaugural session of the Smithsonian
Institutions’ “Jazz Masterworks Orchestra” conducted by Gunther Schuller and
David Baker.
By Presidential Order, Mr. Nark was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal for his “distinctive
accomplishments and contributions” with the Airman of Note.
