Since their establishment in 1959, The United States Army Herald Trumpets have performed at numerous historical occasions. Their first official performance welcomed Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II to America for the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway. In the ensuing years, they have performed for an illustrious array of Presidents, Prime Ministers and Royalty. Some of the most prestigious of the Heralds’ engagements have been: the opening ceremonies for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia; the opening of Walt Disney World; opening ceremonies for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games at Lake Placid; the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles; and the Economic Summits in 1984 & 1990. The Heralds were also viewed by millions worldwide when performing at the televised relighting of the Statue of Liberty, and the annual national holiday celebrations “A Capitol Fourth” and “Christmas in Washington.” The United States Army Herald Trumpets have been invited to perform at the International Trumpet Guilds Conference in New York (ITG 2000) in recognition of the historical and ongoing significant associ-ations of the trumpet with the military.
