Konradin Groth joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1968.
From 1971-74 he was principal trumpet with the German Opera. In
1974, he returned to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as principal
trumpet, a position he held until 1998 when he became a full time
Professor of trumpet at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin.
Herr Groth is a renowned teacher and has also taught in the Orchestra
Akademie of the Berlin Philharmonic since 1974. In 1990, his method
book for tonguing and breathing techniques was published by Zimmerman
Music Frankfurt.
As a soloist, Konradin Groth has recorded five CDs and given many
international tours. In 1984, he premiered the Concerto for Trumpet and
Orchestra by the German composer Siegfried Matthus with the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his solo
and teaching activities, Herr Groth is also in demand in the chamber music genre where he has recorded
many CDs with such renowned ensembles as German Brass, the Berlin Philharmonic Brass Ensemble and
Berlin Philharmonic Brass Quintet.
This year, Konradin Groth will give concerts and masterclasses in Japan, Turkey and China, and at the
International Trumpet Guild Conference in New York, USA.
