Pierre Dutot studied with Roger Delmotte at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris where he won 1st Prize in Trumpet. He was for many years principal trumpet with the Orchestre National de Lyon before being appointed Professor of Trumpet at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in 1989. Since then, he has developed a reputation for being one of Europe’s most renowned trumpet teachers and mentors. His former pupils maintain the “French Brass School” tradition and are often prizewinners in national and international competitions.

Now one of France’s leading, and most popular, trumpet soloists, M.Dutot has given concerts and masterclasses throughout Europe, Asia, South Africa and Australia and recorded for all the major record companies and broadcasting houses. His conviviality and generosity of spirit has also made him a popular choice as a jury member for major brass competitions. In addition to his busy life as a soloist and teacher, M.Dutot directs his own brass ensemble Hexagone.
